If you go all the way to the East of Christchurch you will find the New Brighton Pier:
Some of you may know the Brighton Pier in the south of the UK, this is the new one =)
It's in the middle of New Brighton Beach:

If you look closely to the mountain tops you can see a bit of snow. It doesn't usually snow in low altitudes, only in the mountains.

Facing North you can see a great deal of mountains from the NZ's mountain range: the Southern Alps:
The seagulls are a bit smaller here, and can be a bit stubborn:
